Rachael Kenny, event manager at Peak and Eventprofslive member, explains why Britain is the perfect destination to host events.

Event professionals in Britain have faced a major shift to improve sustainable practices. Planners are placing more emphasis on reducing the environmental impact of their events, by choosing venues and suppliers that align with their sustainability goals. This includes incorporating eco-friendly strategies such as recycling, composting, and sourcing local, organic food. The UK and Ireland are home to a wide range of venues that are committed to sustainability, just look to the Barbican in London, the Convention Centre Dublin and Manchester Central.

Virtual and hybrid events have truly been embraced, as they allow attendees to participate from anywhere in the world, without the need for travel. Many venues have recently invested in a wide range of innovative technologies, upgraded their AV and are well equipped to handle these events. Not to mention the production value British suppliers are known for, think Glastonbury Festival, London NYE Fireworks 2022 by Identity and let’s not forget the 2012 Olympics.

Britain is a fantastic location to bring experimental and futuristic events to life, there are many live experience venues such as the Tate Modern in London and the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin. The use of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technology is also becoming more popular as it allows attendees to experience an event in a new and exciting way. There are many venues and suppliers that can provide these experiences for your delegates.

One of the biggest advantages of holding an event in Britain is the close-knit transport links. The country’s railway network and well-connected airports make it easy for attendees to travel to and from the event, no matter where in the country it’s being held.

The advantage of being small country is that most venues are no more than a couple of hours away from international airports. In 2023, we will further embed Britain’s place on the event map. For example, Liverpool hosting Eurovision will highlight our best-in-class event production on a world stage; the Kings Coronation will demonstrate the pageantry and time keeping our royal events are known for; then in the venue world, The Coop Live Arena is set to open in December and will be the biggest arena in Europe. It will without a doubt bring some of the biggest artists from around the world to Manchester.

It’s an exciting year to be part of Britain’s event industry.
