ExCeL London has finalised the refurbishment of its Platinum Suite conference centre, as market demand for internal meeting spaces continues to see an upturn.
Catering for up to 1,100 delegates, ExCeL’s Platinum Suite is split across three levels and specifically designed for meetings, AGMs, gala dinners, product launches and award ceremonies.
Earlier this year it underwent a six- figure transformation, creating a “fresh look and feel”, as well as adding new lighting features and enhanced planting. The design team also worked with UK artist Liam Roberts to help dress some of the rooms.
The investment is linked to the growing appetite for internal meetings as reported in the 2023 AMEX Global Meetings & Events Forecast. The dossier highlighted that, “internal meetings will continue to be the fastest growing category in 2023 across all regions”, and that in some regions they are “already back to 2019 levels”.
James Rees, executive director of conference and events, ExCeL London, commented: “Prior to the pandemic, the importance of internal meetings was perhaps considered secondary by some organisations. But now we are seeing a notable shift in priorities, with internal meetings expected to see the biggest percentage increase this year at 4.5% globally.
“For ExCeL, the refurbishment of the Platinum Suite allows us to further enhance our offering in this sector.”
