Managing events is no easy task – budget planning, venue searching, sponsor meetings, supplier tenders, copywriting, ticket sales, the list is endless!

It’s a constant battle to stay on top of the ‘to-do list’, so how can you work smarter?

In a ten-year study conducted by McKinsey, executives reported that they were five times more productive when they worked in a state of optimal concentration called ‘flow’. Meaning they could get as much done by the end of Monday than their peers did in a whole week.

Your three top tips for event success

  1. Stop being a slave to your inbox

Zena Everett, award winning author of the ‘Crazy Busy Cure’, asks how much of your day is about the work you need to get done and how much is answering the demands of other people’s priorities? Block time in your diary to focus solely on projects, and separate time to focus on emails.

  1. Unitasking vs multi-tasking

Stop trying to do a million things at once and instead embrace unitasking! Focus your time on what is most important – if you’ve got a presentation to do, put your all into it.  Sarah Furness, ex-RAF combat pilot and motivational speaker, uses the military motto of ‘train hard, fight easy’ to achieve her goals.

  1. Put pen to paper

You are 42% more likely to achieve your goals if you put pen to paper! By just writing your aims down you are giving yourself the best chance to succeed.  Brian Mayne, goal mapping expert, says if you use visual images and words to map your goals, you will fly to success.
