A 13-strong team from events agency, Zibrant, last week completed a charity challenge: The Scottish Coast to Coast, raising over £10,000 for The Muscle Help Foundation, Send a Cow and The Charlotte Blackman Memorial Fund.

The 106-mile challenge comprised running, cycling and kayaking from Nairn on the east coast of Scotland, across the Highlands to Glencoe all within one weekend.

The group, led by MD Fay Sharpe, tackled hill climbs, lochs, and treacherous descents on mountain bikes in driving rain.

Fundraising team member, Anthony Coyle Dowling, said: “It soon became clear this challenge wasn’t about our personal goals, it was about us as a team. We let neither mountain nor rain get in our way. Our hats go off to our back-up team, without whom we could not have completed the challenge.”

Sharpe added: “This was our seventh annual charity challenge and without doubt it was the most grueling. My sincere thanks go to all of those who supported the team’s efforts.”

The agency last week also announced a restructure of the company’s healthcare division, which, it said, had seen its business grow 15 per cent over the past 12 months.

The agency’s announcement followed the news of the departure of Hannah Wilkinson to take up a senior post at Grass Roots Meetings and Events division. Zibrant’s former Head of Congress, Richard Parker, will become the agency’s new director of healthcare strategy. Emma Bason, International Operations Director, will gain an increased remit for operations, events and congress, and Global Account Director Lee-Ann Penn is promoted to head of Healthcare Account Management.

David Vaughton, Director of Venues for EEF Venues, meanwhile, is to run the Cardiff Half Marathon for Sri Lanka Aid Project (SLAP) on 6 October 2013.

The aim is to raise funds for victims affected by the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami in Sri Lanka. SLAP is a project Vaughton has been involved with for the past six years.

“I had the privilege of visiting in December 2012, meeting such humble, charming and grateful people,” Vaughton said.

“We oversaw the installation of running water into the school as a consequence of a significant donation from a major corporate organisation. The next project is to raise £5,000 to build a new classroom to accommodate the growth in numbers of pupils to over 300. We plan to undertake this project during January 2014 and as part of our fundraising activities for that, I will be attempting to complete the half marathon.”
