MP for York, Hugh Bayley and MP for York outer, Julian Sturdy will host an event for over 70
conference buyers in the Houses of Parliament, 13 March 2013, aspart of a new campaign to boost conference bookings into York.
The venue showcase, ‘York Minster to Westminster’, is being organised by Visit York under the
VisitYork4Meetings brand.
Conference buyers from London and the South will be targeted, as well as a selection of high-profile
international organisers
The
York bureau is working on the campaign with Visit England and the March
event will include networking, afternoon tea and a tour of Parliament.
Guests
will then move on to the five-star Intercontinental Westminster Hotel
for aYork venue showcase and Yorkshire themed dinner.
Host venues will include the five-star
Cedar Court Grand Hotel & Spa, York Minster Conference and Banqueting Centre and the National Railway Museum.
Laura
Freer, Business Tourism Manager at VisitYork4Meetings, said targeting
the buyers was a
key part of the bureau’s strategy. “Our aim is to showcase the diverse
range of venues York can offer. York can provide venues at competitive
prices and is less than two hours from London by train, with great road
and air links for international buyers.
“York Minster to Westminster is guaranteed to be a fantastic showcase and one that all our venues
and partners are excited to be a part of. We really want it to be a day to remember.”

Visit
York is also developing its Conference Ambassador Programme and working
on a series of dedicated sales days and a programme of exhibitions
