A Gender Pay Gap Report commissioned by hospitality, conference and training venue Wyboston Lakes Resort, has shown that 60% of the senior management team are female.

In terms of pay, 49% of staff in the upper quartile are women.

Managing director of the venue that lies on the Bedfordshire/Cambridgeshire border, Mark Jones, says he is committed to ensuring that everyone is rewarded equally for their work regardless of gender, and that the pay gap is closing.

“We are also committed to giving everyone equal opportunities to progress to the highest level in their careers with us and have signed the Diversity in Hospitality, Travel and Leisure Charter,” he adds.

Ranked in the list of Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For list over the past five years, Wyboston Lakes Resort, over the past 12 months, has promoted 74 individuals based on merit, 68% of whom have been female. This is representative of the venue’s workforce, which is 63% female.

The venue has also created the Wyboston Signature Training programme. Open to managers, supervisors and team leaders, the course consists of monthly training modules taught over 18 months. Half of the staff on that programme are female, says Jones.

Wyboston Lakes Resort has also launched a Graduate Training Programme this year and will welcome its first intake in July, while the internal coaching, mentoring and ongoing training programmes have seen five females promoted in to deputy manager roles.
