World Travel Market (WTM) will be launching the WTM Global Trends Report 2012 on 5 November at WTM 2012 at Excel London, and claims its Global Trends Reports, in association with Euromonitor International, have successfully predicted global travel trends for eight years running.
The WTM Global Trends Report for 2011 predicted trends in the travel and tourism industry including hotel companies customising their brands in China by partnering with Chinese companies; the integration of gaming dynamics in non-gaming environments to create brand awareness and loyalty; and the rent-a-garden concept being a significant source of accommodation during the London 2012 Olympic Games.
“The WTM Global Trends Report is one of the travel and tourism industry’s most anticipated reports due to is high success rate at predicting trends for the sector,” says Reed Travel Exhibitions Chairman, Fiona Jeffrey. “Last year was no exception with a number of the trends coming to fruition, particularly the rent-a-garden trend in the UK.”
In related news, the recently-rebranded Palladium Hotel Group, in collaboration with Paytouch, will be showcasing its biometric and Facebook initiatives during WTM 2012.
WTM delegates will be able to log into Facebook using their fingertips at four camera totems, from which they can update their status and upload pictures taken directly from the camera totems.
In 2011, Palladium Hotel Group pioneered a live Facebook sharing experience at its Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel, with visitors able to share their holiday experiences on Facebook in real time using RFID bracelets and totems distributed across the hotel. In just over two months, Palladium claims the hotel had 70,000 Facebook ’likes’ and 2,000 registered users of the new RFID wristbands.
“The biometric technology developed by Paytouch, twinned with the existing Facebook sharing options mark a significant advancement for technology and WTM is the ideal platform to launch this initiative,” says Associate Director of Marketing, Alfonso Giménez.
