The Women’s Equality Party chose The Cotton Sheds of Victoria Warehouse in Manchester as the venue for its first party conference recently.
The three-day conference attracted 1,400 delegates from the party’s 65,000 members and supporters.
The Telegraph newspaper claimed the WEP is the fastest growing political force within the UK today. Established in 2015 by author and broadcaster Sandi Toksvig and journalist and author Catherine Mayer, a key objective of the party is to deliver gender equality.
Organisers say Manchester was selected as host city, in part, to reflect its history as home of Emmeline Pankhurst and birthplace of the suffragette movement.
The transformed warehouse space was used in its entirety, for breakouts, workshops and training sessions, as well as an exhibition and main plenary area.
