Editorial director Martin Fullard recently visited Manchester Central and caught up with Shaun Hinds, chief executive of the venue.

Following the launch of Manchester Central’s sustainability survey, they discussed why collaborative research is important.

The Conference News team also gained insight into the venue’s sustainable initiatives and caught a glimpse of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA) conference.

Commenting on the visit, Martin Fullard, editorial director, Conference News, said: “It was great to visit Manchester Central and to understand how the venue is helping our industry become more sustainable.

“To see a show taking place which places emphasis on sustainability, provided the perfect real life case study. After spending a day with the team, I have seen first hand the practical steps that the venue has taken, clearly it’s time for tangible action.”

Shaun Hinds, CEO at Manchester Central, added: “We are proud of what we have achieved so far on our own sustainability journey, but we know there is always more to be done and we can’t do that in isolation.

“If we are to truly make a seismic change, we need to do it as an industry collective. Embarking on this collaborative research was a natural next step for us; one that would not only provide insight for our own business but, critically, one that would help our sector as a whole move forward.”
