VisitEngland’s head of Business Events, Simon Gidman, has left the national tourism board after more than 10 years and has taken up a new role at Tourism Australia.
Executive general manager events at Tourism Australia, Penny Lion, tells CN: “We are delighted to welcome Simon to the business events team at Tourism Australia. His experience in the industry, along with a passion for our destination, should be a winning combination.”
VisitBritain responded to CN that it would be announcing a new head of business events “imminently”.
Gidman has been named as the new Business Events Manager for UK/Europe at Tourism Australia.
Gidman’s departure is the latest in a string of managers to leave the national tourism board in recent months. Chris Foy, head of business events at VisitBritain, left in July and has since joined VisitAberdeenshire.
