Venuemasters, the consortium representing over 80 academic venues across the UK, reports a six per cent increase in enquiry levels in the 2011/12 membership year, with a record number of enquiries taken between 1 April 2011 and 21 March 2012.
Academic venues have become a fast growing sector in the meeting and travel market, offering a wide range of facilities at competitive rates. Over 30 venues now provide year round meeting and accommodation facilities.
“This has been a very productive year for our member venues and we’re delighted to report a six per cent increase in enquiries on the previous year. We aim to raise the profile of academic venues in the meeting and travel industry and our efforts are reflected in the enquiry results,” says CEO at Venuemasters, Terry Billingham.
The number of member venues and range of facilities they offer continues to grow giving event organises more choice. In the 2011/12 membership year the consortium welcomed an additional 11 new venues, including Robinson College in Cambridge, Sheffield University, and Dartington Hall located near Totnes in Devon.
Fifty Venuemasters members are expected to exhibit next week (16 May) at the Academic Venue Show at The Emirates in London.
