Bournemouth-based venue operator BH Live has appointed a venue director for Croydon’s Fairfield Halls, the London venue also under the trust’s management.
Neil Chandler will take up the position later this year and work with the project team and partners in preparation for the venue opening in late 2018. He will also manage day-to-day operation at the Halls, focusing in particular on event programming, community engagement, partnership working and business events.
Fairfield Halls is currently undergoing a £30m refurbishment to develop a cultural quarter for the town, with the venue at the heart of the community.
“To join BH Live and lead the iconic Fairfield Halls into a new era is both an honour and privilege,” said Chandler.
“BH Live’s track record in managing community assets, event programming and delivering exceptional hospitality gives me immense confidence and the opportunity they have given me to be part of this project, both artistically and operationally, will be very rewarding. I look forward to connecting with the local community and to presenting seasons of entertainment that appeals to a local and wider audience.”
Chandler returns to the venue, having previously led its operation in 2010. He is currently with the Ambassador Theatre Group in the role of GM at the New Wimbledon Theatre.

Councillor Timothy Godfrey, Croydon’s cabinet member for culture, leisure and sport added: “Neil has secured the best job in town. It’s great that he is coming back to the Fairfield with BH Live. It’s a combination of experience and knowledge that will get the new Fairfield off to a great start.”
