Last night’s (22 February 2012) episode of the BBC’s hit food programme Masterchef showed the remaining contestants catering for a function at The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, a Unique Venues of London member.

Entering the world of fine dining at one of the world’s most iconic legal institutions, the contestants, under the command of Head Chef Ian Overall, prepared a banquet for 230 guests including two Supreme Court Judges, three Lord Justices, four High Court Judges and 26 QCs.

During the eight-hour preparation of the menu, which included stuffed filet of sole, roasted fillet of beef and a trio of desserts, the contestants, working in pairs, faced a number of challenges, not least to meet the exacting standards of one of London’s finest dining venues.

“It was an interesting experience for myself and the team, and there were certainly a few nervous moments, but in the end the contestants delivered exactly what our guests always expect on a daily basis; three exquisite plates of food, and we were all very proud of them,” said Director of Catering and Marketing at Middle Temple Hall, Colin Davidson.
