The University of Sheffield’s Endcliffe Village has gained a new boutique hotel with the opening of Halifax Hall on 23 October.

The Victorian mansion was the former University of Sheffield Hall of Residence and has had a £1.8m makeover to transform it into a hotel with 38 bedrooms and five meeting and event spaces for up to 120 delegates. Halifax Hall is located in a close proximity to the University’s additional conferencing facilities at The Edge and The Ridge.

Halifax Hall is one of the first hotels in the UK to partner with a sleep expert to design a relaxing stay. Sheffield sleep consultant We Love Sleep has fitted the 38 guest bedrooms with specialist pillows, duvets and mattresses, sleep aids and a Guide to Good Sleep.

Kathryn Riddle, Pro-Chancellor of the University of Sheffield officially opened the hotel and unveiled a millstone plaque engraved to commemorate the launch.
