UK buyers who attend Dreamtime 2013, Tourism Australia’s signature business events trade activity, will be taken on a three-day educational visit to Uluru in the Northern Territory as part of the educational programme.
Dreamtime, which will be held 9-13 December, will see 100 international business events buyers and media converge on Melbourne for two days to experience Australia’s capabilities for hosting events. The business programme and networking events hosted in conjunction with Melbourne Convention Bureau will be followed by three days of educational visits.
While UK buyers and those from New Zealand are taken to the Northern Territory, visitors from India will visit Adelaide, and those from North America will travel to Cairns. Japanese and Korean visitors will take a trip to the Gold Coast, and those from Greater China, Hong Kong and South East Asia will be taken to Sydney.
Tourism Australia’s MD Andrew McEvoy said Dreamtime was part of a broader strategy to promote Australia as a business event destination internationally and deliver economic benefits to the sector.
“Dreamtime gives the Australian business events industry a platform to do business with well qualified international buyers from key markets such as China, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, New Zealand, North America and the UK.
“The educational programme will provide our international guests with the opportunity to experience what the Australian industry can deliver and our point of difference from other markets, from bespoke corporate incentive experiences to hosting large scale gala events,” McEvoy said.
