Global events and communications agency, Spark Thinking, has promoted three key members of its team following an influx of new client wins and an increase in demand for its technology and production expertise.

Sarah Middleton has moved from a project manager role to an account manager for both Spark Thinking and its sister brand, healthcare events specialist, Ashfield Meetings & Events.

Leading a team of project managers and project executives, Middleton’s new role will ensure she is the key point of contact for a number of Spark’s prestigious clients, including Leeds Beckett University. She will oversee the planning and delivery of all aspects of many events for both Spark and Ashfield – from delegate management and logistics to production and creative – ensuring every event both achieves its objectives and exceeds client expectations.

“Sarah has been an enormous asset to our business since she joined eight years ago and this role will really play to her strengths,” said Heather Sharp, Spark Thinking Account Director. “She is personable, professional, extremely organised and incredibly creative – ideal attributes for a Spark and Ashfield Account Manager – she is passionate about delivering only the best for her clients. Sarah was nominated for our company’s ‘Rising Star’ award last year and it’s easy to see why.”

Luke Thorogood has progressed within the Spark Thinking team.

Originally starting in a project executive role just over two years ago, Thorogood has played a key part in co-ordinating a variety of events – from award ceremonies and gala dinners, to sponsorship events and internal training.  However, it was his impressive technical skills that have led to the promotion to a newly-created role within SPARK – technology project manager.

“Luke has been doing a fantastic job in managing client websites, event registration technology, mobile apps, and this new role recognises his outstanding technical skills and achievements,” adds Sharp. “Cutting edge technology is an area where we continue to see a high demand from our clients, so it’s vital we stay abreast of the very latest developments in the industry. Luke is dedicated to continually learning and finding the best technical solutions to enhance our clients’ event experiences; I’m confident he’ll be instrumental in our growing success.”

Simon Read completes the triumphant trio as he moves from a project manager position to the role of production project manager.

Joining the company in 2015, Read has worked with many of the leading players in pharma and healthcare, playing a key role in developing new accounts while progressing his skills and understanding on the production side. His career path has also seen him organising everything from party political conferences to product launches and VIP events, and it’s this broader industry experience that lends itself perfectly to his new promotion.

“Simon’s eagerness to continually expand his technical expertise and his positive attitude has contributed to his progression within the team,” adds Sharp. “Simon’s passion is creating unique atmospheres to engage audiences whilst effectively communicating the intended message. Outstanding production is an essential element to any event’s success and Simon is already proving his capabilities within his new role.”
