As Mental Health Awareness Week 2025 (May 12 to 18) shines a spotlight on the importance of community,  The Mermaid London, has raised £5,000 for leading mental health charity SANE.

Determined to empower SANE in its efforts to improve quality of life for people affected by mental illness, the heart of London events venue donated £1 to the national charity for every day delegate rate package and Christmas party package booked throughout 2024.

As a result of The Mermaid London’s donation, SANE will now be able to fund the recruitment and training of two additional volunteers to work on SANE’s specialist mental health helpline, SANEline. Between them, this will mean an extra 360 hours of support every year for people who need it most.

Kathryn Winfield, general manager at The Mermaid London, said: “With a proud history of advocating for causes which have a big impact on local communities, we hope we’ve been able to bring attention to something that affects so many, but which is often too easily dismissed.”

SANE campaigns to raise awareness and understanding of all mental health conditions, fights to improve frontline mental health services, provides support, information and guidance, and hosts research into causes, treatment and therapies.

The Mermaid London offers healthcare benefits to all its employees, as well as access to support, advice and guidance in areas including mental wellbeing through an internal app. The leading venue hosts monthly events to encourage bonding and enable team members to connect, and it endeavours to alleviate financial strains on employees by providing a monthly lunch spend.
