To celebrate its 10th Anniversary, the Event Photography Awards organised a special ‘best ever’ contest which saw the ten past EPA overall winner images qualify for the final alongside the winners of fifteen ‘best ever’ categories.

The event was judged through an online system that attracted votes from 4,000 event industry professionals from over 40 countries across the globe.

The competition culminated in an event in the City of London’s renovated Skinners Hall, now rebranded as 8½ London.

The main Livery Hall played host to award-winning images from the past ten editions of the competition, creating an impressive gallery of images, augmented by a carousel of shortlisted shots on screens.

Cath Dupuy, was the ‘best ever’ overall winner, with an image of The Painted Hall in Greenwich.

Wedding photographer Steven Grogan, the overall winner of EPA in 2023 was the runner up with his image ‘Feeding Time’

The two highly commended images were ‘Multitasking’ by Andrew Billingham, which won EPA 2019, and another shot of The Painted Hall by venue specialist, Matt Chung.

The Best Ever Portfolio award was judged on past performance in the competition and was won by Noah Goodrich who outscored the field having won seventeen EPA accolades over the years.

The Peoples’ Choice Awardwas won by Anne-Marie Forker and Ian Knight was announced as the winner of the Best Amateur Award.

The not-for-profit competition was founded in 2014 by Philip Atkins, CEO of event staffing agency Off to Work, to highlight the importance of great photography to the sustenance of the industry.

He said: “Photography does so much to amplify, justify and sustain the events industry, so it’s not only heartening that the competition has not only reached its 10th Anniversary, but that the special Best Ever contest was so well supported by the industry and saw so many people vote.”
