Transport for London (TfL) will be providing workshops ahead of the London 2012 Olympics to help small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) plan their transport needs.
London 2012 Travel Advice to Business Team Leader Nicky Ward confirmed the details at the Londonlaunch Games event, held at MWB Cannon St on 25 January. Another keynote speaker was the Editor of Insidethegames.biz, Duncan Mackay.
The event focused on Olympic issues such as transport and the logistics of business continuity.
Over 200 guests, including representatives from The Ministry of Defence, L’Oreal, Ernst & Young and Nomura, attended the networking event held by marketing consortium Londonlaunch.
Ward discussed issues such as road closures, transport hotspots and the Olympic Route Network.
Games Transport for London Commissioner Peter Hendy has recently called for commuters to adjust their travel plans during the Games period, which will have an affect on meetings and events running during this time. “We are not saying don’t travel,” he said. “And we are not saying don’t travel home at 5pm. But for those who can, go down the pub and travel at 6.30pm.”
He has launched an ’Get Ahead of the Games’ campaign to urge the public to adjust their travel plans during the Games. The initiative includes a new website highlighting “Games-time travel hotspots; a nationwide advertising campaign and the use of social media to alleviate the strain”.
