The UK government’s Petitions Committee has asked for questions from the events industry, after a petition for government economic assistance reached 100,000 signatures.
The committee says that, due to the large number of petitions it received regarding the coronavirus, it will be collating key questions to put to the government in an upcoming Q&A session. The session will be broadcast live.
The committee’s survey says: “We know from current petitions that members of the public want to know more about the government response to coronavirus. To date, over 1.5 million signatures have been added to petitions on issues including potential school, college and university closures, financial support for those who are self-employed, public transport, public gatherings, and support for businesses experiencing financial challenges.
“As a result, we (the Petitions Committee), a cross-party group of MPs, would like to hear your questions – about these or other aspects of the government’s response to coronavirus – which we will put to experts and the Government in an upcoming session that will be broadcast live.
“Please tell us up to three questions.
“All information is submitted anonymously. We might publish some of the questions we receive or a summary of the things people want to ask the Government, but no personal information is being collected or published.”
