ConferenceLeeds, a company which offers tailored conference propositions in the Yorkshire city, has announced the arrival of the SME China Forum which encourages UK SMEs to trade with China.

The event provides opportunities for businesses in the UK, such as Leeds, to establish trading opportunities, best practice for market entry and discuss compliance and legals within the Chinese market.

Leeds College of Music will host the event for 150-200 delegates on 24 September 2019. The event will be held by the China Britain Business Council, which helps British and Chinese businesses collaborate.

The forum style allows for both a plenary session and a panel discussion. In these, the delegates will hear from keynote speakers from SMEs who have gained successful experience entering the Chinese market.

Speakers include Jack Peters, business development director of the Alibaba Group and Melanie Allan, chief commercial officer for China at Silver Cross. Both speakers will discuss the consumer market in China and discuss how this international experience has impacted their business.

After the panel discussion, the event will present on topics such as IT security, Chinese banking, business development and more. It will also provide opportunity for delegates to receive advice and consultations on exploring the Chinese marketplace.

Claire Heap, head of ConferenceLeeds, said: “Leeds has strong links with China thanks to its partnership with the city of Hangzhou, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2018. The partnership has been key to developing strong trade links between businesses and organisations from both cities and has helped create a number of long standing partnerships between several universities.

“As such, we’re really pleased to be welcoming the China Business Forum to Leeds for the first time this year, and know that Leeds College of Music is a perfect venue for a conference of this type due to the variety of spaces available at the venue. We are sure that the forum will be a success, and very informative for the businesses who are attending and looking to expand their business in the Chinese markets.
