Sheffield City Hall will host the Arts Marketing Association’s (AMA) annual conference, 16-18 July 2013, after a successful partnership bid between Marketing Sheffield, Sheffield International Venues (SIV) and Hospitality Sheffield.
It will be the first time the city has hosted the event which is expected to attract 550 arts professionals.
Ian Slater, Chair of Hospitality Sheffield and GM of the Park Inn, Sheffield, says: “We pride ourselves on our partnership approach in Sheffield which is why we are happy to be working alongside Marketing Sheffield and SIV to secure the AMA Conference for 2013.
“Business tourism is the cornerstone of the city’s tourism economy and our partnership work has delivered great results in the past and we hope that this will continue to bring in conference and events business going forward,” he adds.
Dominic Stokes, GM of SIV Events says: “Hosting the AMA conference highlights how SIV can focus on crossing the boundaries of our many distinct areas of business. SIV is a major influencer of sport, arts and culture in this region and we are looking for synergies across all those areas.”
The AMA support arts professionals and through a wide range of events and resources helps members gain the skills to develop their organisation and support their professional and personal development. The 2012 event took place in Brighton last week.
“Sheffield meets our brief for 2013 thanks to its main conference venue and range of arts venues in the city with potential for networking events,” says Events and Services Manager for AMA, Annabel Busher.
The relationship with the AMA was initiated during Marketing Sheffield’s attendance at International Confex in London in March 2011 and Marketing Sheffield Tourism Manager, Emma France says: “The success of the Sheffield bid reaffirms how crucial trade shows like International Confex are to us. We are fortunate to be able to attend each year in partnership with key venues across the city such as SIV to pitch for conferences like the AMA.”
