The Safer Events digital training and accreditation course, launched by Hire Space in 2020, has become formally CPD Certified, meaning it can contribute directly to the continued professional development of event professionals in the UK.

The accredited CPD training, which is supported by the Event Marketing Association (EMA) and the Delegate Wranglers group, means the learning activity has reached the required Continuing Professional Development standards and benchmarks. The learning value has been scrutinised to ensure integrity and quality. The CPD Certification Service provides recognised independent CPD accreditation compatible with global CPD requirements.

The Safer Events programme, designed to equip event planners with practical skills for organising in-person events post-Covid, has recently been nominated in the “Best Event Supplier Safety Product Development” category at the Exhibition News Awards.

According to Hire Space, hundreds of event professionals have completed the training, including event planners from Capita Travel & Events, Morningstar, George P Johnson and the NHS.

The course covers the Science of Covid-19, government guidelines, safety measures and event organiser responsibilities and take between two to three hours.

Measures for the training are drawn from the Safer Events – A Framework for Action white paper, which is followed by over 3,500 events businesses as a practical blueprint for the safe return of live events.

Edward Poland, co-founder of Hire Space said receiving accreditation was an important step. He said: “We’re delighted to have a globally-recognised stamp of approval for the accreditation, and know that many event professionals are actively thinking about inspiring confidence in their clients in the new year. It’s a timely boost, and we look forward to developing the course content as we have new information in 2021.”

“The Safer Events program helped us to design our new business strategy for 2020 and into 2021. We’ve been able to reassure our clients that we’ll go above and beyond to get them meeting again,” said Lizzy Eaton, founder of agency Oddity Events.
