A group of 19 aspiring young hospitality stars have taken their places on a new management trainee course in partnership with hotel management company RBH and University College Birmingham.

RBH – formerly Redefine|BDL Hotels – announced the programme earlier this year, following its success across its QHotels portfolio in recent years.

The candidates will earn and learn, working within the hotel industry, while gaining a recognised, formal qualification from the university.

Over the course of the next two years, the candidates will come together for selected masterclasses, while gaining hands-on experience at selected hotels across the RBH portfolio, including DoubleTree by Hilton Westerwood near Glasgow, The Nottingham Belfry, Oulton Hall and Stratford Manor.

The candidates have spent three-days on an induction onto the course, where they found out more about what the next two years on the course holds, with sessions at Telford Hotel & Golf Resort as well as a day at University College Birmingham.

Sarah Abercrombie, RBH’s educational development manager, said: “I’m proud to see our 19 candidates embarking on what I’m sure will prove to be a rewarding and challenging journey. Each of them has shown so much promise already, and I am confident they will excel.”

Charlotte Parr (19), who will be based at Crewe Hall Hotel, said: “I’ve been looking forward to getting started on the training programme since I found out I’d won a place a couple of months ago. I can’t wait to start learning even more about the industry and to gain all the experience I need to further my career.”

RBH currently has an annual turnover under management in excess of £350m and its portfolio unites over 11,000 rooms and over 6,000 colleagues across the managed and leased hotels.
