International hotel chain, Radisson Blu has had its meetings and events programme ‘Experience Meetings’ recognised by the Green Meetings Industry Council.

International hotel chain, Radisson Blu has had its meetings and events programme ‘Experience Meetings’ recognised by the Green Meetings Industry Council (GMIC).
 
Experience Meetings was recognised by the GMIC for “innovation and thought leadership in sustainable meeting support solutions in the hospitality industry”.
 
GMIC champions the implementation of sustainability practices globally.
 
“At ‘Blu’, we have been green since 1989, becoming the first hotel company in Europe, Middle East and ica, to have a comprehensive environmental policy in place,” says Vice-President for Responsible Business at The Rezidor Hotel Group, Inge Huijbrechts. “With Experience Meetings, we cover all aspects of a sustainable event.
 
“The official recognition by GMIC shows that Radisson Blu Hotels & Resorts take sustainability very seriously. Our aim is to provide a truly memorable experience to our guests, and put Responsible Business on the forefront of everything; business or pleasure.”

All 220 Radisson Blu Hotels & Resorts in Europe, Middle East and ica, have committed to the ‘Think Planet’, Rezidor’ strategy designed to minimise the environmental footprint and Experience Meetings.
 
The green guarantee at Radisson Blu Hotels & Resorts promises:

  • Commitment of each hotel to reduce its energy consumption by 25 per cent in five years, starting in 2012
  • Continuous efforts to reduce water consumption and waste generated in each hotel
  • Paperless meetings
  • In-room waste recycling
  • Brain Food principles, including a maximum of locally sourced ingredients and vegetarian options
  • Meetings Minus Carbon – A Plus for Planners: Club Carlson for Planners, the group’s loyalty programme, will provide offsetting of the estimated carbon footprint of the meeting location.
