The Scottish Event Campus (SEC) has announced the appointment of Greg Cherry as managing director of its on-site event organiser QD Events. Previous MD Fran McIntyre left in May 2017 to take up a position with the Knowledge Transfer Network in Edinburgh.
Cherry had led the development of the commercial arm of Freeman’s UK Business, building the general contracting arm as well as the development of the Design and Build business.
Cherry also had experience running the commercial arm of the ADNEC exhibition centre in Abu Dhabi.
SEC chief executive Peter Duthie said he was “delighted” that Cherry had accepted the role of MD at QD Events. “His extensive experience in exhibitions and commercial development will be a huge asset in driving the business forward. His appointment comes at a time when QD Events continues to grow providing a solid contribution to the Group.”
Cherry added: “I believe my industry and entrepreneurial experience, leadership in growing businesses coupled with my passion and drive for excellence, will enable us to achieve our ambitions.”
QD Events portfolio of shows include The Scottish Caravan, Motorhome and Holiday Home Show, The Scottish Wedding Show, IRN-BRU Carnival and Independent Living Scotland, more recently adding Resonate – Festival of eSports and Gaming.
