Abingdon and Witney College’s £7.4m redevelopment of its Witney college campus, which includes conference facilities, was opened, 20 July, by the Prime Minister and Witney MP, David Cameron.

Two buildings at the campus in Oxfordshire have been revamped and one new building has been built to provide new facilities including TV and radio studios, editing suites, beauty salons, art and design studios, science labs and conference facilities.

The new conference facilities are suited to training workshops and meetings, available to book by the hour or full day. The rooms, which can cater up to 20 delegates, are IT accessed and fully air-conditioned. The Diamond Room is equipped with Smart board and data projector facilities.

“This is exciting for Witney, for the young people here today, and for all those in West Oxfordshire who will be able to follow the strong vocational pathway that this college offers,” Cameron said. “But it is also exciting for our country as a whole, as a demonstration of the cultural change we are seeing that really values vocational education and makes it a genuine option.”

Cameron told an audience of more than 200 people, including invited guests, local people, students and staff, that he was “excited to celebrate the new upgraded facilities being ready for use and to celebrate vocational education”.

The college provides training in various trades.
