ACC Liverpool has secured international conferences over the next two years which, it says, will generate a total of £15m in economic impact.
The winning bids include the International Orthoptic Association conference which will take place at the waterfront venue in June 2020, welcoming 1,000 delegates over four days.
In addition, the Annual Meeting of the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE) will take place in the same year, attracting 3,500 delegates over three days.
ACC Liverpool also recently hosted 1,500 attendees at the European Week of Astronomy and Space Science, while forthcoming international congresses this year include Uni Global Union World Congress in June and Health Systems Research in October.
Professor Mehul Dattani, head of paediatric endocrinology at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, University College London Hospitals and the Institute of Child Health, is ambassador for the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology, and said: “Our annual conference gives our delegates the opportunity to exchange high quality clinical and scientific information with international experts at plenary sessions, symposia, and meet-the-expert sessions… As an ambassador, we are confident that visitors will be impressed with the venue and will appreciate exploring such a vibrant, interesting city, as well as engaging in social events during the three days of the meeting. We are looking forward to hosting our 59th ESPE meeting in Liverpool from September 10–12 2020.”
Adrian Evans, assistant director of conference and exhibition sales at ACC Liverpool, says 2018 has been “a strong year” for conferencing at the venue, adding: “This latest round of confirmations will generate £15m in economic impact for the city region alone, bringing the total economic benefit generated by The ACC Liverpool Group to £1.5bn.
This year the venue is celebrating a decade since it opened its doors. In the period the venue has hosted more than 1,050 conferences and international events, including BBC Worldwide Showcase, which returned for the seventh time in February; the European Association for International Education; Eurospine and the Union World Conference on Lung Health.
