Positive feedback from Academic Venue Show

Exhibitors at this year’s Academic Venue Show have reported a “good event, with a large number of enquiries”.
 
The Venuemasters’ show, which took place at the Emirates Stadium in London, 16 May, saw 50 academic venues from across the UK exhibit.
 
Speaking to CN at the show, Well Met Conferencing’s Business Development Manager, Kate Davis, said: “This year’s event was particularly successful for us as exhibitors. There was a large footfall of visitor traffic to our stand and we have had some positive enquiries.”
 
Visiting the show, the Head of Membership Activities at the Society for General Microbiology, Jane Westwell, said: “I had a fruitful day at the Academic Venue Show talking to possible venues for our SGM conferences in Sheffield, Bristol, Brighton, Durham and Leeds.”
 
Janet Street-Porter was a guest speaker at the event, which also offered free workshops on negotiating skills and how to build a career and succeed in business.
 
Academic venues have become a fast growing sector in the meeting and travel market, offering a wide range of facilities at competitive rates. Over 30 venues now provide year round meeting and accommodation facilities.
 
Venuemasters, the organiser of the show, now represents 80 academic venues across the UK and recently reported a six per cent increase in enquiry levels in the 2011/12 membership year, with a record number of enquiries taken between 1 April 2011 and 21 March 2012.
 
“This has been a very productive year for our member venues. We aim to raise the profile of academic venues in the meeting and travel industry and our efforts are reflected in the enquiry results,” said CEO at Venuemasters, Terry Billingham.
 
Visitor figures to the show are yet to be released.
