Portman will be responsible for all of Carillion’s travel management requirements both in the UK and overseas.

Portman will provide Carillion with a new online booking mechanism to provide greater cost management, savings at point of sale and increased efficiencies.

David Isteed, Carillion Group Property Director, said: “It was important for us to streamline our business travel process and manage our programme in a more cost effective way and Portman’s overall value proposition and online booking capability was an attractive proposition. Since the appointment, we have already moved over 85 per cent of our travel bookings online.”

Carillion said it had been impressed by the ‘Responsibly Portman’ strategy that was launched by Portman Travel earlier this year for minimising the impact of events on the environment.

Carillon Senior Vice-President Global Sales, David Bishop, added: “We are delighted to have won the Carillion travel management contract and the whole Portman team is committed to delivering the very best solutions”.

For a second year running Portman Travel was named Best UK Business Travel Agent at the 20th annual Scottish Passenger Agent’s Association Awards (SPAA).

Once deployed across the business, Portman Travel will be able to manage and control multiple communication channels through an increasing variety of technologies, which will provide a personalised customer experience when introduced in early 2013.

Adrian Parkes, Chief Commercial Officer, Portman Travel, said: “We want our customers to have a consistent experience regardless of the method they choose to access their travel information. Whether it is by email, online or mobile we will provide them with personalised, relevant and contextual information under the familiar Portman Travel look and feel.”
