Two Liverpool-based companies, event management agency Pickled Walnut Events and sound, light and vision supplier Adlib have secured their first joint contract, the British Darts Organisation’s (BDO) first World Trophy in February at Blackpool Tower.

The BDO World Trophy aims to attract 1,000 competitors and up to 14,000 spectators from throughout the world. Competitors will be playing alongside the game’s greats,  including Scott Waites, Stephen Bunting, Jan Dekker and Richie George. They will be battling it out for a prize fund of more than £115,000.

The World Trophy is being organised by BDO Events, the commercial arm of the British Darts Organisation, and will take place in the tower from 4-9 February.

“We are delighted to be working with BDO Events on the World Trophy, which will be the first tournament in a year-long festival of darts,” says Mike Hughes, Pickled Walnut Events Director. “It’s a fantastic start to the partnership.”

Top players from throughout the world are already competing in play offs to determine who will represent their country in the World Trophy. The World Trophy is the first in a year-long programme of events culminating in the Super Series in July.
