Hotel and conference group PH Hotels, in partnership with 3663, has invested £100,000 in a new training and development kitchen based at Horwood House, Buckinghamshire.
The development kitchen will be available to hire by external companies such as corporate clients, food economists and kitchen product manufactures. This gives Horwood House a unique appeal for development teams who require kitchen facilities, conference and events space and overnight room stays.
In related news, one of PH Hotels’ chefs picked up the Spice Chef of the Year title at the Carlsberg Northamptonshire Food & Drink Awards. Nadir Hussein (pictured), who has been with Sedgebrook Hall for three years, has progressed from Commis Chef to Chef de Partie through PH Hotel’s Chef Academy, and beat off competition from over 250 entrants to secure his title.
Bruce McDowell, PH Hotels’ Group Development Chef, will oversee all use of the new facility and will also use the kitchen to develop new menus for all Tempus restaurants across the PH Group and train the restaurant’s head chefs in new offerings before they are added to the menus.
“Both the training and investment in our chefs and the quality of food we provide across all PH Hotels is of utmost importance to the business and the dedicated development kitchen will allow Bruce to ensure we continue our commitment to culinary excellence, whether it be in our Tempus Restaurants, private dining, conference catering or banqueting,” says Tony Troy, CEO of PH Hotels.
