NYC & Company, the official tourism organisation and convention bureau for New York City, hosted its annual educational for UK event agencies in the city from 27 February – 3 March 2013 to highlight its offerings as a MICE destination.
Nine clients from UK agencies including Black Tomato Agency, Universal WorldEvents, WRG Creative Communications, The Appointment Group and Concerto Live were treated to a full programme of site inspections, venue visits and incentive activities, with each full day of the programme managed by a different New York City DMC.
Highlights of the itinerary included a tour and meal at Grand Central Terminal, which is currently celebrating its Centennial; visits to key sites in Lower Manhattan and a backstage tour of Foxwoods Theatre, home to Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark. The group also tested their music mixing skills during a DJ masterclass and enjoyed a networking lunch with NYC & Company’s Signature Collection of luxury hotels at the Museum of Modern Art.
The group, accompanied by NYC & Company’s European MICE sales and marketing director Paul Black, was hosted at eventi, A Kimpton Hotel, which opened in 2010 with 237 bedrooms, 55 suites and flexible meeting and event space of its own including a 1,600 square foot terrace, a screening room and ballroom space.
