Emirates Old Trafford, the home of Lancashire County Cricket Club, recently hosted the Northwest Football awards and attracted over 550 guests from football and football related services.
Backed by FIFA, The and Football Foundation, the awards recognise the commercial, marketing and professional services talent in the region off the pitch as much as the players on the pitch.
BBC’s Dan Walker was master of ceremonies for the event, which was attended by Liverpool’s Jamie Carragher, Everton Manager Roberto Martinez, Chief Executive Gordon Taylor and the Neville family.
Laura Wolfe, MD at events and marketing company Journey9, said: “At Journey9 we care about football and understand the important role it has in contributing to both the Northwest’s identity as a region as well as its economy. The event was attended by some of the biggest names in the Northwest, and it gave us the opportunity to showcase our expertise.
Winners on the night included:
- Sir Alex Ferguson – Manager of the Year and Lifetime Contribution to Football
- Jamie Carragher – Player of the Year
- Everton FC – Women’s Player of the Year Toni Duggan; Best Club Marketing Campaign; and Community Club of the Year
- Liverpool FC – CSR Campaign of the Year; Best Club Sponsorship Engagement/Partnership
- Chester FC’s Barry Hipkiss – Unsung Hero Award
- Bolton Wanderers – Community Initiative of the Year.
