Manchester is to benefit from a new conference facility for up to 5,000 delegates.

EventCity, the second largest exhibition space outside of London, has joined forces with Smart Hospitality to transform one of its halls (Hall 4) into conference facilities.

The venue, near to the Trafford Centre in the city, is investing £2.5m into overhauling the 5,800sqm space, which will be fully operational in January 2013.

The venue team says it has already won events from corporates TalkTalk and Whitbread.

Smart Hospitality CEO Greg Lawson says: “The refurbished space, which for comparison purposes is as big a football pitch, boasts multi-purpose functionality, allowing the most basic
to complex of briefs be met.

“An ability to sub-divide the space presents the opportunity to deliver everything required on a conference wish list; seminar halls, break out areas, exhibition space and catering all in one technically equipped room.

“This development forms part of a bigger multi-million expansion project for EventCity as a more relevant look is about to be unveiled and works to improve currently facilities and an independent entrance to Hall Three get underway.”

Andy Orr, Managing Director of EventCity, adds: “These are incredibly exciting times for EventCity and we’re delighted to be partnering with Smart Hospitality to provide such a high quality and sophisticated facility for the industry to indulge in.”
