After over 10 great years as the head of UK Centre for Events Management (UKCEM), Leeds Beckett University, Glenn Bowdin has announced he is to change roles to focus more of his attention on his PhD.
Dr James Musgrave (pictured) is appointed as the new head of UKCEM. He tells CN: “I am privileged to be starting a new role as head of UK Centre for Events Management at Leeds Beckett University. There are exciting times ahead for UKCEM and I am looking forward to working with an amazing team and connecting with the vast network of UKCEM alumni. UKCEM continues to grow from strength to strength with outstanding student satisfaction and very high levels of graduate employment. We will continue to focus on linking education with employment with plans to enhance our dedicated events research provision. This will add to our global reputation as a market leader in events management education.”
Professor Rhodri Thomas, dean of school of events, tourism and hospitality management adds: “Glenn is stepping back to pursue academic interests he has put on the back burner for several years. We are grateful for the great work he has done for us. We are now confident that James will take to the next level and assert our position as a world-class university centre for events management.”
Bowdin says: “It has been an honour and a privilege leading UKCEM, including such a fantastic team of dedicated event academics and professionals. I am very proud of what we have developed and achieved here at UKCEM, where we have been celebrating 21 years of developing and delivering events management education and research, and remain particularly inspired by the many achievements of our UK Centre for Events Management (UKCEM) Alumni, students and staff.
“I will be continuing with our work supporting the development of the events industry, education and research at UKCEM, and through my re-election onto AEME (Association for Events Management Education) executive committee.”
