Birmingham’s NEC has promoted two of its key sales members after a restructure of the Account Management team, with Account Director, Janine Smith becoming Senior Account Director and Sophie Lilly moving from Senior Account Manager to take on an Account Director Role.
NEC Venue Sales Director, Stephen Richards says: “With the departure of formed Account Director Sue Horrigan earlier this year we were presented with the opportunity to review the structure of the sales team.
“Janine and Sophie are valued members of the team and its great to have them progress with us. Their experience and understanding of our customers’ means we will continue to push the boundaries in account management,” he adds.
Janine Smith began as an Account Manager for The ICC Conference Sales team in 1999 before taking on the role of Account Director at both the ICC and The NEC. With her promotion she has now taken over full responsibility for the newly structured Account Management Team which has been streamlined into one team.
“I am really looking forward to the breadth of my new role which will enable me to combine strategic account management with the on-going development of our senior Account Management team. I am committed to helping drive our business forward to ensure that The NEC continually challenges itself on delivering a first class customer experience,” says Smith.
Sophie Lilly has over 10 years’ industry experience, with seven of those spent at the NEC in various sales roles. The promotion means Sophie will be responsible for a team of Account Executives and Managers, selling both exhibition hall space and conference suites.
“I am really excited by the opportunities my new role provides me with to build on the successes of our current team to ensure our customers’ experience exceeds their highest expectations ,” Lilly says.
