London-based caterer Moving Venue has announced the launch of its new initiative, the Moving Venue Catering Academy, as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations. The academy aims to nurture the next generation of catering talent by providing practical skills, industry insights, and hands-on experience in the events sector.
The inaugural programme, starting in September 2024, will run for six months and feature six comprehensive modules. These will cover key aspects of the industry, including venue event catering, sales and marketing, planning, operations, provenance and product, as well as kitchen and menu development.
To mark the conclusion of the course, a Spring/Summer 2025 menu showcase will be held, where mentees will collaborate with their mentors and peers. This event will not only celebrate their achievements but also present the food that will be featured at next year’s events.
The first cohort of eight mentees includes:
- Neeraj Mannick, supervisor at Freemasons’ Hall
- Margo McCray, event sales manager at the Natural History Museum
- Charlotte Ager, events operations manager at the Natural History Museum
- Katie Bell, event sales coordinator at Somerset House Trust
- Jane Trask, event manager at Guildhall
- Clara Smith, event manager at Guildhall
- Olivia Sole, event manager at the Science Museum
- Clare Greenwood, corporate & private events manager at the V&A
The academy is set to provide an exciting platform for these professionals to advance their careers in the world of event catering.
