Exhibition organiser Montgomery is launching a new conferences division to complement its exhibition offering and grow its presence across the UK, ica, the Middle East and Asia.
The company has appointed Simon Polledri to lead the new Montgomery Conferences business and roll out a portfolio of conferences across the group. He has worked on international conference development most recently at ITE Group and PennWell Corp.
“Not only will a conference arm help reinforce and develop some of our existing brands, but also aid comprehensive exhibition development in certain emerging territories,” Montgomery MD Damion Angus said.
Polledri (pictured) told CN his focus is two-fold: Firstly, to introduce paid-for, standalone conferences alongside existing exhibition properties; and secondly, to launch conferences as a way for Montgomery to enter new markets not necessarily in its core sectors.
“Montgomery has a number of properties where there is a strong exhibitor and visitor relationship and there’s a significant audience base that we think we can add value to by adding cutting-edge conference content,” he said.
“For example, we have a mining show in South ica called Electra Mining ica with a huge visitor base that shares similar strategies despite mining for as diverse products as diamonds and coal.
“Other markets are not as big, so we’ll evaluate each opportunity and put a plan into place for conferences of varying sizes going forward.”
Montgomery Worldwide rebranded last year to just Montgomery, which it claimed highlighted a new phase of growth for the company.
