The Tourism Alliance has announced today the reappointment of Michael Hirst OBE as part of its board of directors.
Hirst is chairman of the Business Visits and Events Partnership (BVEP), which represents over 50 organisations covering the diverse sectors of Britain’s visitor economy. He has been re-elected to the Tourism Alliance board for a three-year term.
Hirst has been a Tourism Alliance board member for the past fifteen years. He was chairman of the Alliance in 2013, and has also served as treasurer and member of the executive committee.
The Alliance is presently dealing with issues arising from Britain’s exit from the European Union, such as skills, employee retention, recruitment, facilitation of travel, and other regulations.
The BVEP’s goal is to represent trade organisations, government agencies, and other groups in the business visits and events sector. They help to develop policies and practices which will grow the sector.
Hirst commented: “The Alliance makes a unique contribution to furthering the well-being and reputation of the tourism industry. It has also played a key role in developing the industry’s sector bid as part of the government’s industrial strategy.
“Through board membership of the Tourism Alliance, I will be able to ensure the Alliance can fully co-ordinate the events sector’s contribution to the bid and make sure the needs of the events sector are properly understood.”
