Mermaid Conference Centre to host Olympic marathon workforce

The Mermaid Conference and Events Centre has been chosen by organisers of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic marathons as the venue where the majority of the field of play workforce will check-in and be deployed from.
 
The venue, with the exception of the River Room suite, will be taken over for three weekends during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, twice during the month of August to accommodate Games Makers and staff for the men’s and women’s marathons, and once during September for the Paralympic marathons.  
 
The venue was chosen primarily because of its location, approximately halfway round the marathon route.
 
“We are delighted that we have been chosen and are looking forward to working with the team,” says venue GM Alicia Duncan.
