MEETinLEEDS has announced that the University of Leeds will again be hosting the Communication Matters conference, taking place between 9 – 11 September 2018.
Communication Matters is a UK-based charitable organization, which works to promote the best possible communication for people with complex communication needs.
They deliver training, support research and lobbying, to promote a vision where all individuals have a right to a ‘voice’ through the provision of equipment and ongoing support services.
Over 400 attendees are expected to attend the conference, which will include over 80 presentations, a very popular exhibition of the UK’s leading suppliers of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) products, social events and more.
The conference will see three aspects of evidence-based practice discussed in a series of platform sessions, which include best research evidence, clinical and professional experience and personal stories and preferences.
In addition to platform presentations, there will be poster sessions on the Monday & Tuesday and further participatory events for delegates.
Ruth McMorran, Co-Chair of Communication Matters, commented: “We are very much looking forward to the event and we couldn’t think of a better venue than the University of Leeds.
“We feel the work we carry out is very important, helping people with complex needs improve their communication skills through training, support research and lobbying, and this conference is a great way to bring people together for discussion and ideas sharing.”
