The Meetings Industry Association (mia) has launched a series of new ‘Connect’ events, designed to connect people and identify new business opportunities.
The mia has formed a taskforce of hand-picked, energetic influencers from the industry to run the series.
The volunteer advisers include the Barbican’s Glenn Mainwaring, EEF Venues’ Anna Poole, Warwick Conferences’ Justine Meek, Lime Venue Portfolio’s Maria Scullion and Rockliffe Hall’s Gemma Pott. They will shape the programme to ensure it addresses the issues of the day.
Jane Longhurst, chief executive of the mia, said: “Some of the most popular events the mia offers are the networking events such as our Agent Dinners and Agent Days. The mia has challenged the taskforce with a mission to ensure these events continue to attract the right agents, are held in the right venues but, most importantly, offer the right business opportunities to members.”
The task force is also in the process of developing a new high-intensity, high-impact sales training day in July for for venues and suppliers in the sector.
The Connect events scheduled, to date, are:
- 15 March – Connect Day – Millbrook
- 21 June – Connect Dinner – Rockliffe Hall Resort
- July – Sales Conference – London TBC
- 16 August – Connect Day – Etihad Stadium Manchester
