The Meetings Industry Association (mia) has announced 22 venues and two suppliers have joined its membership ranks in recent weeks, all of which have achieved AIM accreditation.
Fourteen of the new venue members come from The Jockey Club, including racecourses such as Aintree, Cheltenham, Epsom Downs and Newmarket.
Another multi-member group is Compass Hospitality. Seven of its UK hotels, including Best Western Milford Hotel, Leeds; Citrus Coventry and Crown Spa Hotel, Scarborough, have signed up and met the AIM benchmark standard.
Also joining is Holiday Inn Liverpool City Centre, which offers eight fully equipped conference and meeting rooms for up to 400 delegates.
Barbara Wolstenholme, meetings, events and sales manager at Holiday Inn Liverpool City Centre, said: “We believe by joining the mia we will gain great exposure to new agents which will help to increase our brand awareness. We will also be able to focus on associations and larger events which we are able to accommodate.”
In addition, the mia has welcomed two new suppliers as members.
INTX, the corporate transport and logistics specialist, has worked with the events industry for many years and its MD Andrew Globe said: “We have joined mia as we believe it is a great way for us to raise our profile within the events industry.
“We specialise in providing transport solutions for conferences and events ensuring that our clients needs are met and assisting organisers with the logistics of transporting delegates to venues. By being a mia member, venues can be sure we are accredited as a quality supplier.”
Kinetic Solutions, provider of event management software, has also signed up.
