Macdonald Hotels & Resorts to invest £5m across its portfolio

Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, which claims to be the UK’s largest privately-owned hotel group, plans to invest £5m across its hotel, conference and meeting space portfolio in the coming months.
 
With over 45 hotels in its collection, the £5m investment will be spread across many hotels in the group. Bedroom refurbishments have already been completed at the five-star Macdonald Randolph Hotel in Oxford and four-star Macdonald Alveston Manor in Stratford-upon-Avon.
 
At Macdonald Tickled Trout Hotel in Preston, a £500,000 investment to completely refurbish ground floor areas is currently underway. This includes a new reception, the installation of free Wi-Fi internet access, a Costa Coffee lounge and the launch of a Scottish Steak Club restaurant, the signature grill of The Macdonald Hotels group. Work is due to be completed in late September 2012.
 
The business is also further developing its systems and IT infrastructure with the integration of an IDeaS revenue management system across all Macdonald owned hotels. Further development is also underway to improve bandwidth availability across all hotels to provide an improved and speedier Internet connection.
 
While some hotels such as Macdonald Windsor Hotel and Macdonald Burlington Hotel in Birmingham already offer guests free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, others such as Macdonald Berystede Hotel & Spa in Ascot can offer conference organisers extra, dedicated bandwidth of up to 100 megabytes per second.
