Macdonald Hotels and Resorts has reported a 7.5 per cent year-on-year increase in total conference sales in the 12-month period to March 2013.

In addition, the hotel group has seen a 27 per cent increase in convention and exhibition sales.

Macdonald Hotels and Resorts says that despite some challenging market conditions, it has continued to invest and has earmarked £5m in 2013 for further improvements to the meeting space and service to delegates.

The hotel group continues to invest in programmes like BDRC Continental’s VenueVerdict, an industry recognised programme to review and benchmark event host feedback to ensure the highest quality of service is being implemented.

“In a challenging market, our determination to consistently deliver the highest quality of product and service is reflected by encouraging sales results,” says Operations Director at Macdonald Hotels and Resorts, Ruaridh Macdonald.

Earlier this year, Macdonald Hotels and Resorts reported a profit after tax of £1.9m to 29 March 2012.
