London venue LSO St Luke’s, in association with the Barbican, will host the 2014 Association of British Orchestras’ (ABO) annual conference on 29-31 January.

The conference will open with a panel session examining whether classical music can contribute to a city’s economic and social success.

The rest of the three-day conference will offer debates, networking and analysis of the future of the orchestral sector in the UK and around the world.

“Holding our event in London will give more delegates the opportunity to join in productive conversations the ABO conference always provides,” said ABO Membership and Communications Manager, Keith Motson. “We look forward to welcoming friends old and new for three unmissable days of high-level debate and learning.”

Kathryn McDowell, LSO’s MD, added: “This is an excellent example of creative organisations working together, with ABO members from across the UK benefitting from the unique partnership between the London Symphony Orchestra and the Barbican.”
