Experiential events and communications agency, Logistik Group, claims to be one of the first UK companies to receive the ISO 20121 Certification.
To gain the new global sustainability standard companies must prove to an external auditor that sustainability “is an integral part of the event management process and not an additional ‘add on’ component”. ISO 20121 was introduced to coincide with London 2012, setting a new international standard for sustainable events management with all Olympic venues being certified.
“The move across to ISO 20121 came at a good time,” says Logistik’s Corporate Responsibility Manager, Sharon Ward. “We’ve been working on aligning our ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 (Quality) systems for some time and this gave us the perfect framework.
“It’s taken us six years but we can now boast a fully-integrated holistic approach aligned to our business plan and core activities. We can see some good improvement and employee engagement is high.”
This year Logistik Group was also awarded three Business in The Community Awards and a silver ranking in the Environmental Index.
The new standard not only focuses on environmental impact but also highlights Logistik’s further commitment to sustainability including the agencies partnerships with Northern Arts Prize, community work with local schools and charities and their recent campaign working with BT Art Box in support and celebration of Child Lines 25th anniversary.
The Logistik Group was appointed in April to design, build and manage BT’s flagship experiential activity at BT London Live, Hyde Park following a pitch. The two-storey 1,000sqm structure was erected for 17 days and was complemented by a BT Vision live stage.
BT aimed to attract visitors who attended BT London Live and use BT House as a focal point to connect people to the Games.
Areas within the structure included a BT Infinity internet lounge, BT Vision catch-up area, free phone calls, an online gaming arena and permance stage where guests could win Olympic tickets. The first floor also included a VIP lounge for BT customers which offered a relaxing, premium space with views over the park where customers simply had to give their landline number at the welcome desk to gain entry.
Daily interviews were held in the house hosted by Daybreak’s Richard Arnold and featured the BT Ambassadors Dame Kelly Holmes, Daley Thomson and Jonathan and Alistair Brownlee.
