Lindley Heritage, the division created by The Lindley Group in 2011 to offer bespoke catering for museums, historic houses, arts and leisure venues, has won a new six-year contract to provide and develop all of the catering services at 649-seat arts venue, Derby Theatre.
Previously known as Derby Playhouse, Derby Theatre is owned by the University of Derby.
After putting the contract (previously managed by Autograph) out to tender, the theatre’s new management team selected Lindley Heritage with a brief to expand the catering operation. They expect to generate a £500k turnover per annum.
In addition to relaunching the existing Bistro Deli Café, which provides the local community with a meeting place throughout the day, and operating the first floor Lounge Bar, Lindley Heritage has created a new 50-cover restaurant, The Bistro. It will serve both the 539-seat main auditorium and 110-capacity Studio.
“Through its US parent company, Centreplate, Lindley Heritage has the breadth of experience and insight you would expect from being part of a global provider of hospitality services, while being mindful of and attuned to working with local suppliers and ensuring the offering has the local community’s interests at its heart,” says Derby Theatre GM Gary Johnson.
Jonathan Davies, The Lindley Group’s Sales and Marketing Director, adds: “Gary and the team at the Derby Theatre have a clear vision of how they want to develop the theatre and open up the facilities so that they are more widely used throughout the local community and we are delighted to have been selected as their catering partners. This appointment also consolidates our presence in Derby.”
