Leicester has won its bid to host the National Association for Healthcare Communications and Marketing Conference (AHCM) 2012.
The event, at the Leicester Marriott Hotel, will include the association’s annual conference and awards ceremony and is set to attract 250 delegates.
Leicester Shire Promotions, the city’s bureau, co-ordinated the bid to host the conference, working with partners including Leicester Conferences, Leicester Marriott Hotel and events management specialist, Holland Alexander.
Richard Morris, Vice-Chair of the AHCM, said: “With delegates attending the conference from all over the UK, Leicester was an obvious choice. Its central location and excellent transport links mean more than 80 per cent of those attending our conference and awards will be able to reach the venue within two hours.”
Martin Peters, Chief Executive of Leicester Shire Promotions added: “This is a great example of partnership working with several local venues and organisations involved to ensure that AHCM selected Leicester as the ideal choice to host its national conference. This is a further boost for the conferencing and events industry in the city and county, and comes on the back of the recent VisitEngland national tourism awards held at the Athena in Leicester.”
